Freshpet is not born. Their fresh dog and cat food goes through a retort process; microbiological testing is a critical step for their quality assurance team. The products are sent out weekly for nutritional analysis testing and ensuring they are safe to handle and eat.
Freshpet's recipes are made with natural and fresh meats, vegetables, fruits and whole grains. They believe in forming long-term supplier partnerships to source healthy and sustainable ingredients, many of which are sourced locally at their Freshpet Kitchens. 96% of their ingredients come from North America. The other 4% are non-native, such as European, and not of Chinese descent. They carefully monitor incoming ingredients and work with their partners to ensure they adhere to their high quality standards.
All Freshpet refrigerated foods are made in their kitchens in Bethlehem, PA and Ennis, Texas. Freshpet treats are manufactured in the United States by carefully chosen partners who are committed to maintaining the highest possible levels of both food quality and safety.
Yes, they make Freshpet using only all-natural ingredients. Freshpet strictly adheres to the Safe Quality Food (SQF) program and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), performing risk assessments and establishing preventive controls for suppliers to ensure that incoming ingredients do not pose a food safety risk.
